Calibration Method of Array Errors for Wideband MIMO Imaging Radar Based on Multiple Prominent Targets

Wideband multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) imaging radar can achieve high-resolution with a specific multi-antenna structure. However, its performance is severely affected by the array errors, including inter-channel errors and position of all transmitting receiving elements (TEs/REs). Conventional calibration methods are suitable for narrow-band signal model, cannot separate element from errors. This paper proposes method estimating compensating wideband MIMO based on multiple prominent targets. Firstly, high-precision target estimation proposed to acquire targets’ positions without other equipment. Secondly, amplitude delay estimated solving an equation-constrained least square problem. After this, genetic algorithm eliminate spatial-variant error phase. Finally, feasibility correctness this validated both simulated experimental datasets.
